Each year, the Statistical Office conduct two surveys which targets the business sector to obtain data for the compilation of Economic Statistics, namely National Accounts and Balance of Payments.
National Accounts: This is a statistical procedure which aims at providing a numerical summary of the many tranactions taking place in an economy at a given point in time. These transactions relate in particular to the production of goods and services and to the transfer of income or capital between sectors of the economy.
National Accounts provides information on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and its aggregates.
Balance of Payments(BOP): This is a systematic record of all economic transactions between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the rest of the world. It also measures the country's foreign assets and foreign liabilities over a specific period of time, usually one year. The BOP compilation is a collaborated effort between the Statistical Office and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). The unit of account is reflected in $EC
